With the busy traffic of our lives, it is often difficult to clear the clutter of racing thoughts from our mind, and a find a bit of daily serenity. One way to quickly restore the five senses and provide a great stimulus to both mind and body is gardening.
Gardening for relaxation can provide a road to inner peace. The sights and smells of a garden in full bloom provide the soul with a sense of accomplishment; it’s hard to ignore the wonder of life when you have created it with your own hands all around you.
No matter how small your space – even if it is simply a windowsill – developing a green thumb is a relaxing and healthy pursuit. It keeps you in touch with nature, and gets you out of the house for a bit of physical activity. Cultivating your own little space of natural beauty provides the soothing, healing color of green to calm your stress and holistically help to reduce blood pressure. You body will also release endorphins, elevating mood.
And in your serene little garden, clean oxygen is being produced every minute by the plants you have grown. Imagine how relaxing filling your lungs with fresh air is, knowing you helped create it! Being outside even for short stints allows you to reap the mood-enhancing benefits of the sun’s Vitamin D.
In life we do reap what we sow, and making a time investment in growing a little garden is worthwhile, for it gives back exponentially. It also teaches us the fine art of patience and solitude; and opens up a space where we can escape the concrete jungle of our daily lives and find a brief respite.
Sense of self, sense of pride, and sense of life through the pursuit of gardening can lead also to a sense of serenity and peace. And achieving this will give us back the balance that stress takes away.

Tips for Naturally Beautiful Skin

There are all sorts of products and treatments available to help improve the quality of your skin. However, only a small percentage of these are natural. Most beauty products contain harsh, damaging chemicals and treatments, like chemical peels and Botox, can be scary. On top of it all, we really have no idea what most of these treatments and chemicals will do to our skin 20 years down the road. There is a way to have great looking skin without the use of toxic skin care products, dangerous chemicals or procedures.
Here are a few great tips to keep your skin looking fabulous the natural way:
-
Drink your water. All cells need water to function properly. If your skin cells aren’t properly hydrated, waste products build up in your cells and keep them from working right and looking their best. Also, if you don’t drink enough water, your cells will retain as much as they can and you’ll end up looking puffy and bloated. The best formula for knowing how much water your body really needs is to drink half of your body weight in ounces of water. For example if you are 140 pounds, then you need to drink 70 ounces of water per day.
-
Improve your circulation. To function properly, our cells need to get plenty of oxygen. If you spend your days sitting at a desk or remaining mostly immobile, your circulation probably isn’t as good as it could be. You can increase your circulation by getting more exercise, stretching, or getting regular massages from your masseuse or partner. You can also use a dry brush to exfoliate your skin which improves circulation while removing old, dead cells. Not only will this give your skin a better overall look, it can also reduce the appearance of unsightly cellulite.
-
Use certified organic all natural skin products. It’s more beneficial to use natural products if you want to look your best and stay healthy. Just be sure to check labels because many products will claim they’re natural or organic and only contain one natural or organic ingredient. You also want to be wary of ingredients you can’t pronounce and take care to look for certification seals to be sure you’re getting what you pay for.
With a little time, patience, and work, you can have fabulous looking skin in no time.
